If you've got Cape Town on your travel radar and you're in the hunt for wallet-friendly yet cozy accommodations, you've landed on the perfect page!
As I gear up for my upcoming worldwide adventure next year, Cape Town is penciled in as my first stop. As a solo traveler, safety ranks high on my list of priorities, and I'm all about finding spots that make mingling with fellow travelers as easy as possible.
If you're after accommodations with the same vibe, check out my top recommendations below. These options are not only budget-friendly but also ensure a comfortable and pleasant stay, so you can truly make the most of your Cape Town experience.
Here are my hostel recommendations for Cape Town:
The BIG is a newly renovated Luxury Backpackers in Green Point, Cape Town and is the first of its kind. THE BIG offers its guests the best of two worlds – the style, service and cleanliness of a guest house/hotel, with the amazing social aspect of a hostel at competitive rates.
I really enjoyed my time at the BIG. It was the perfect hostel for the start of my travels since it’s very homey and clean, and you will feel at home straight away.
The staff, as well as the people staying there, were very nice.
The best time to meet people is definitely during breakfast!
Overall, it is fairly quiet, which is nice, but not the right place to be if you are looking for more of a party vibe
Price: for one night in a dorm around £26.58
*I noticed a price increase for short notice bookings so it's better to book this Hostel in advance
Most important facilities:
- Free breakfast
- Free internet access
- Security lockers
- Swimming pool
- Air conditioning
- Adaptors
- 24H reception
- 24H security
- Laundry facilities
This was my personal favourite!
Villa Viva Cape Town is a Guest House, a fresh, innovative social business, meeting and networking platform to share and express creative work, social projects and celebrating life.
I stayed here for over a week and it was amazing!
It was super easy to make friends everything is really clean and the dorms are really comfortable and will make you fell at home in no time!
Price: for one night in a dorm around £18.95
Most important facilities:
- Free breakfast
- Free internet access
- Swimming pool
- 24h security
- Luggage storage
- Reception (LIMETED HOURS)
Never At Home is an adventure-led accommodation and travel brand. Their Cape Town property is located on the bustling Green Point strip which is only a short walking distance from the famous V&A Waterfront, the Cape Town CBD and less than a 10-minute drive from the beautiful Camps Bay and Clifton Beaches.
I never been there myself but I know people who have and liked it but it is definitely not as fancy as the first two ones. Since the price is about the same as the frist two I would recommend going to one of the above if they are still available
Price: for one night in a dorm around £20.00
Most important facilities:
- Security Lockers
- Air Conditioning
- Common Rooms
- Outdoor swimming pool
- Internet access
- 24H reception
- 24H security
This is a party hostel! It has some great parties but if you are not into party hostela then this is not the right place for you. It might be the right place for young people who want to go out meet other people and are budget travelling .
They do have some great parties but you can also join them when you are staying somewhere else. So my tip would be stay somewhere else but have a look out for their party nights.
It is quite cheap but therefore the rooms are also not the nicest.
Price: for one night in a dorm it starts at around £10.00
Most important facilities:
- free internet access
- Security Lockers
- 24h security
- Bar
- Self-Catering Facilities
