Top Tips
Be prepared for a lot of traffic (even in Ubud)
Try to avoid long stays in areas like Canggu if you don’t want a party holiday
Bali is a bit more expensive than most people think (especially alcohol)
Don’t just stay in Bali try to also go to the Islands beside Bali like Lombok, Nusa Penida or the Gili Islands
If you have more time try to do the 4 day Komodo Island boat tour (starting in Lombok)
Most of the Instagram pictures you have seen of Bali are actually from Nusa Penida
Best way to travel
You can’t use Uber in Bali but they have an app which is similar to Uber called Grab which you can download to get a ride in a car or on a motorbike. Traffic is quite bad in Bali so if you don’t have luggage with you I would recommend using the motorbike option.
Grab is quite cheap however if you are travelling alone the rides in a car can add up
Visa
If you stay under 30 days you can just get your visa on arrival at the airport. It will cost you around 30,00€. Just be prepared for long queues (I waited a bit over an hour until I got mine).
If you are staying over 30 days the process is a bit more complicated and I would look into it in advance!
Vaccination
There are no vaccinations needed if you come from a European country.
Vaccination is only required if you’ve been to a country in the yellow fever belt
